If I bought the Early Access version on Itch or DTRPG, do I have to back/re-purchase for the Final Version?
No, you will get all future rules updates, but I would be very grateful for your support on Kickstarter because meeting the funding goal will allow for further improvement of the PDF.

The shipping is a lot. What's up with that?
The book is going to be big; 350+ pages at 8.5” x 11” and since I live in Canada I have to use a fulfillment service or pay border duties twice to ship to anyone not in Canada. Also consider that the values are in CAD, so they’ll be about 70% of the listed value in USD.
Part of the cost is also as a cushion against shipping increases. Shipping prices are GUARANTEED to increase between the end of the KS and fulfillment so I had 3 options. 1) don’t charge for shipping until fulfillment, 2) charge the bare minimum for shipping and then more at time of fulfillment. 3) charge a bit extra to cushion against future increases. I went with 3 so that there wouldn’t be any surprises for backers.

I have backed the Kickstarter. Can I have the rules PDF now or do I have to wait for the end of the Kickstarter?
There are free Quick Start rules (https://drive.google.com/file/d/1dFGcRx6BFsD0uJ1lXyNc0qgbA540hByw/view) that you can use now, but you’ll have to wait for the end of the Kickstarter to get the full rule book.

What's the difference between the POD Backer and Hardcover Backer tiers?
The POD Backer will receive a voucher for 100% off of a DriveThruRPG Print On Demand copy of Beam Saber at the time of fulfillment, and will then need to pay DTRPG for shipping & handling.
The Hardcover Backer will receive an Offset Printing copy of Beam Saber at the time of fulfillment, and will pay shipping to me at the same time they are charged for backing this project (the end of the campaign).
Each version will be identical other than the nature of their manufacture.

What's the difference between Print On Demand and Offset Printing?
Offset Printing is made in large batches (generally at least 500 copies) after having gone through a quality assurance process using high end paper and ink. This is mostly what traditional printing is because you get to take advantage of the economy of scale.
Print On Demand is made one at a time through digital printing, and then sent to the customer. While generally considered lower quality, I have heard from multiple sources that modern POD has gotten to be pretty good quality (with the exception of the color red, but Beam Saber has a black & white interior, so no worries there).

I'm already backed at the Hardcover Backer tier. What is happening to me and my reward?
If you are happy with paying the shipping now and want the Offset Printing version of the book, you don’t have to change anything. Your reward tier hasn’t changed.
If you want to pay shipping later and get the POD version of the book, you should switch to the POD Backer tier.

What happens with the Character Backer, Vehicle Backer, Game Time Backer, 2 & 4 Hardcover Backer tiers?
Those will all be Offset Printing and thus the shipping rates as listed will remain the same until the investigation in Update #1 changes them.

My country isn't listed as a shipping option for the NON-NORTH AMERICAN HARDCOVER BACKER tier. What should I do?
DO NOT PLEDGE AT A PHYSICAL COPY TIER. IF YOU BACK AT A PHYSICAL TIER, I CANNOT ADD YOUR COUNTRY. BACK AT THE PDF OR LOWER TIER, then comment on the campaign with the country you want the book sent to so that I can create a shipping option for that country. Once I have done so, I will reply to your comment letting you know that it is now available in the NON-NORTH AMERICAN HARDCOVER BACKER tier.

What is BackerKit?
BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!
The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.
How does BackerKit work?
After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.
I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?
The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.
Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.
To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.
How do I update my shipping address?
BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.
When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?
That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.
I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?
As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
